A protest wont help anything. If Mc Daniel wants to be viable in the future, he should accept his defeat and be graceful towards Cochran. The reason Cochran won is because he had the Barbour Political Machine Behind him and they knew how to game the system. They followed all the rules and McDaniel as a “roookie” got caught by surprise. If the Republicans want to change the rules to a closed primary, they should do just that. In the meantime, the rules are what they are.
I disagree about McDaniel needing to be “graceful” toward Cochran. By playing nice, McDaniel will damage his own image of fighting for his constituents - in this case, Republican voters in a putatively republican primary.
This primary shows a troubling symptom of the disease being promulgated by the GOPe.
Boss Hog Barbour should have switched parties years ago. The draft-dodging, pudgy old democrat wannabe. He makes me sick.
Put on the appearance of being a conservative when he’s nothing in the world but a big government Washington insider.
My St. Bernard when he’s hungry is more conservative than Boss Hog and Porky Pig Rove.

McDaniel should fight, then he should see if he can write in barring the fight then he should run for Govenor and Challenge Haley Barbour if the write in fails.

Is that a Tacit endorsement of playing dirty pool?
Nuts.
McDaniels was right yesterday to say that he was "betrayed." The man is a respected 2-term state senator from Mississippi. He did not deserve to be treated this way by the state party. How effective can he still be locally when he was disgustingly accused of being a racist by his own party leaders?
McDaniels needs to go scorched earth back on everyone who did this to him, if he is to remain a credible figure in the state legislature.
Fight hard to purge the party hacks who thought it was okay to do this to an established figure in the state.

Old a Retired Army Guy:
Who would you vote for in the MS General Election?
Your claim of them “following all the rules” is still in doubt...I think it more likely that they knowingly broke several laws.
One law - though unenforceable states that a person who votes for a candidate in the primary that they do not intend to support in the general, commits fraud. How many of those 30,000 dem voters intend to support Cochran in the general? If it is 20% or more I would be shocked. The machine encouraged this law breaking, and the enforceability of the statute does not excuse their behavior in this. It shows a criminal character at best.
It also violates the law to have voted in the dem primary and then vote in the gop runoff. Did they only solicit the votes of dems who did not vote in the primary? HIGHLY doubtful, in fact, almost surely the opposite.
It also violates the law to buy votes with “walking around money”. No excuse whatsoever for their behavior in this.
There is clear evidence that all of these laws were not only broken, but in collusion with the gop establishment.
Anybody who continues to support the gop in any way is giving tacit approval to a corrupt, criminal enterprise.
WRONG
McDaniel should RUN AS A WRITE-IN CANDIDATE
I don’t care if Cochran loses
The establishment will never agree to a closed primary. They still think a “moderate” candidate is the way to go, eevn after the Romney loss.
Be graceful? Cochran probably doesn’t even know he won yet. Yeah, right - the GOP was soooooooooo graceful toward McDaniel - this is the reason these old RINOs keep winning - because of the mind set like yours.
