Mitch McConnell, the NRSC and the Chamber of Commerce went all in for moderate Thad Cochran in Mississippi (57% conservative rating with Heritage Action):
Back in Washington, Cochrans most important allies resolved to muffle their anxiety and stick with him for another three weeks. The Chamber of Commerce polled the race, concluded the senator had a difficult but viable path to victory; the group began brainstorming inventive ways to make a splash in the state, culminating with a sensational commercial starring NFL legend Brett Favre. National Republican Senatorial Committee political director Ward Baker, confronted with Beltway pessimism about Cochrans chances, repeatedly told Republicans in D.C.: We dont leave our people on the field.
But it took 35K Democrats to push him past grassroots challenger Chris McDaniel:
Surprisingly, more votes were cast in the runoff than in the June 3 primary. McDaniel increased his vote from 155,000 on June 3 to 184,600 last night. But the 25-35,000 Dems who crossed over to vote for Cochran gave him the extra margin to surpass his opponent.
This is more reason for Chris McDaniel to run as a write-in candidate in the general election.

All candidates have to be registered by March 1, do you know if there are any? I couldn't find any info.
Has anyone checked to see how many of those Democrats voted a Democrat ballot in the Primary?
Congresscritter Richard Hanna of NY endorsed by the US Chamber of Crony Commerce as a “free enterprise champion????” That really rips it with the C of C. They have become the functional “business” equivalent of Planned Barrenhood and GLAAD.
Thad Cochran delenda est.
If not now, when? If not us, who?
Makes good sense. And frankly, if it was my state where the Democrat was pro-life, pro-gun and anti-Obozocare and the Republican was the opposite -- I'd vote for the Dem. The most important part is to a) vote such that liberal Republicans lose while simultaneously voting to put a guy in office who, if he wins, will do the RIGHT THINGS. Regardless of what party he does or doesn't belong to.
That is absolutely incorrect. There are THREE values that a voter can give. -1, 0, and 1.
For example, say that there is and election with 201 voters, 200 of those votes are cast and the election is tied, 100-100. Now it's your turn to vote. You can vote Dem (-1) and the Dem wins, You can vote Rep (+1) and the Rep wins, or you can abstain (or vote for a write-in) and it remains a tie. Your single (potential) vote had THREE possible outcomes.
WE don't win in any race where WE don't control the nomination. See such disgraces as Mitt Romney (pro-abortion, anti-gun, non-military, pro-perversion posing as marriage, and a gilt-edged trust funder), John McCain (once he MAY have been as sane as thee or me), Bob (Tax Collector for the Welfare State) Dole, Pappy (Read My Lips! No New Taxes!!!) Bush, Gerald (Mr. Moderate and total pro-abort) Ford, Richard (Tricky Dick Traitor) Nixon and so on. Starting with then-liberal Herbert Hoover in 1928, we have had only two terms of Ronaldus Maximus and, remotely, two terms of Dubya in 86 YEARS. The despicable GOP-Ruling Class types have screwed up the party or the country with their defiant stupidity for all the rest of the time.
I don't know about you. I KNOW I don't have another 86 years to wait to get 8 years of a Reagan or maybe 8 years of a Dubya. I was a Reagan state chairman when he challenged Spineless Ford. I want some real action and I want it ASAP. No Romneys. No Christies. No more establishment trash. It is time to roll our tanks over their shredded political remains.
Rule or Ruin!
Be graceful? Cochran probably doesn’t even know he won yet. Yeah, right - the GOP was soooooooooo graceful toward McDaniel - this is the reason these old RINOs keep winning - because of the mind set like yours.
I’m more of a mind with Mark Levin (I think it was him, anyways) that the best way to go about this is to pick one, and only one, Senate race, consolidate efforts and target the GOPe incumbent for political destruction.
Mississippi is, to me, the right race to do that. No fan of McConnell, but Grimes is both severely Liberal (esp compared to Childers) AND KY is very much a “purple” state where if she gets the seat it’s going to be damned impossible to get her out. Ever.
In MS the seat WILL go back to the GOP in six years. IMHO it could happen a lot sooner, since Childers might like the seat, want to serve more than one term and be persuaded to follow in the footsteps of Senators Shelby and Nighthorse-Campbell and switch parties.
If the Chamber of Commerce caucus are not punished hard, there is no point to American politics. Let us Remember Mississippi as our ancestors Remembered the Alamo and Remembered the Maine.
Elect Childers since there are no more palatable alternatives remaining, because Childers is not an ordinary Democrat, and because the Ruling Class GOP-E created the situation where the election of Childers was the only reasonable path left to us. Make sure the GOP Elite understand that they may buy nominations but they can no longer win elections. We may be in for very hard times under Demonrats until we cleanse the GOP stables but until we clear out those stables, no useful future is possible. The undone tasks have reached critical mass.
If you are a Yankee, think Sherman's March to the Sea and Phil Sheridan. If you are a Reb, think Stonewall Jackson and Nathan Bedford Forrest. Burn, loot, pillage, destroy and, above all, make of your enemies a discredited memory, despised by decent folks everywhere.
Crazy Horse at Little Big Horn is another good model for us and Custer at Little Big Horn for our enemies. Let the bones of their scalped and slaughtered corpses bake unburied in the sun as a warning to any who would emulate them.
In The Godfather, Michael Corleone is told that the one thing that cannot be done is to kill a NYC Police Captain which Michael plans to do. If a captain were to be killed by a mob guy, even a figurative virgin like civilian Michael, then the police would close ranks along with the prosecutors and judges and exact a fearsome toll on all mob income. Michael's excuse was that the police captain is a corrupted police captain whose reputation can be destroyed by newspaper reporters on the Corleone Family payroll. I certainly don't advocate shooting anyone over their veal parmagiana but Boss Hogg and his creature Thad Cochran and their RNC friends are certainly as corrupt as the police captain and we can aspire to be as effective as Michael while avoiding the violence.
If a scheme so egregiously contemptive of the mass of Republican primary voters is permitted to bear fruit I'm Mississippi, they will replicate it each and every contested primary where cross over voting is allowed.
Cochran MUST be defeated if McDaniel is unsuccessful in challenging the results.
Its about strategy and justice not vengeance
Praise God!!
Operation reverse chaos works for me. We must swamp these guys, with some Clowers Pivens of our own, because we can not outspend their owners.
McConnell funded the dirty tricks operation in Mississippi and must go, by hook or crook! This can not go unpunished.
Politcally this was Pearl Harbor against conservatives.
LOL - you learned the words, but don’t know the meanings.
You also obviously neglected your math classes. LOL
You perceive the choice as binary -- Republican or Democrat -- and the potential affect of the vote in the context of other votes, as -1. Assessed potential affect is a very different thing than an actual mathematical quality of a vote. A vote has two qualities: 0, or 1.
Would you like proof?
There are 201 votes. The first 200 have been cast, 50 50, mine is the tie-breaker. But I vote for a write-in. There are still 201 values of one involved. PERIOD. If the quality of a vote could be -1, then in the end, when all the votes were tallied, there would only be 200 votes. But that is false -- there are 201, evenly split except for one that went sideways, who cares. Proof that the -1 quality of a vote is contrived, pretend, imaginary, is that if I stayed home, at the end of the day, there would only be 200 votes tallied. THE OUTCOME is the same, even with one less vote. You may perceive that in retrospect as a -1, but mathematically ... the truth remains that the vote is either "home" (0) or for either the Republican OR the Democrat (1). The -1 is totally fictional.
The simple fact is (without all of your “binary” and “assessed potential affect” twaddle) is that a single vote can have more or less impact on an election, depending upon how it’s cast. You have used sophistry to try to “prove” your point, which was an obfuscation of the original statement. Nobody but you gives a rat’s patootie about the “actual mathematical quality of a vote”, because THAT is absolutely meaningless in this context. Elections are not won or lost by “Absolute mathematical qualities of a vote” - Proof? I tell you that Jack received 497 votes, an absolute mathematical quality. You have no way of knowing if Jack won or lost the election, and by itself, that absolute mathematical quality is essentially worthless. Because votes are only meaningful as comparative values. Jack could either win or lose with 497 votes, depending on how many votes his opponent received.
In the original argument - the desired outcome is for Thad Cochran to lose - a vote for his opponent is twice as effective in reaching that outcome as is a withheld vote or a vote for a minor candidate.
One thing I learned long ago, that you need still to learn. Mathematics are simply clever parlor tricks unless properly applied in practical situations. You have improperly applied your mathematics, and your argument is worthless, nothing more than a parlor trick; non-germane and particularly unhelpful to the discussion.
All you have done is holler, “look at me”, and tried to subvert the argument of the relative value of a vote, and how best to apply it (a very practical and useful discussion) into your juvenile whine that “a vote is binary, a vote is binary, a vote is binary” which has no value in the discussion.
I am not interested in your poor attempt at false intellectual preening. You behave as a child interrupting an adult conversation. Grow up, and re-enter the discussion when you have something of value to add.
