I suspect the Russians wanted to search the pirate’s boat for any goodies before they blew it up.
The pirates are both Black and Muslim. That means that we practically worship them in America.

The bottom line works for me.
They didn’t need to understand Russian and the Russians didn’t need to understand Somalian.
But the message was received loud and clear and if nothing else, one ‘Pirate Crew’ will no longer be a plague on the ‘Seven Seas’.
