I hope that a serious and aggressive write in campaign is in the works. I had just as soon let the dems have the seat rather that give it back to that RINO.
UKIP decided to go third party, and are now dominating their former “conservative” party. I wouldn’t have supported a third party Monday, but a state level third party in Mississippi may be the way to go. Look at Minnesota, which doesn’t have a democrat party. It is the democrat farm and labor party.
LOL! Your experience sounds like my own. I'm heartily tired of being accused for 'wanting the perfect candidate' when all I want is a to vote for a Republican that behaves like a Republican
Why is that so very much to ask?

Here is the gist, as the rest was overturned when Dims realized they were shooting themselves in the foot:
In addition, the state Democratic Party sued Gov. Haley Barbour and others in the mid-2000s regarding just that matterprompting United States District Judge W. Allen Pepper to write in a June 8, 2007, opinion that it is the responsibility and right of the political party holding a primary election to ensure that the elections are fair and legal. In the case of a Republican primary and runoff, only Republicans vote, and in the case of a Democrat primary and runoff, only Democrats voteand it is the role of the political parties to ensure that process is handled correctly.
The Supreme Court determined in a 2005 case that the First Amendment protects the right of political parties to associate with fellow members and disassociate with non-members, Judge Pepper wrote in his opinion. So technically its the partys responsibilityi.e., in this case, state GOP chairman Joe Nosefs responsibilityto protect GOP voters First Amendment rights by working to keep Democrats from voting in the GOP primary runoff.
Thank you VERY much. Greatly appreciated.
Yes, it is treachery - by the sodden, elitist faction of cynical, self-serving agents of constitutional subversion.
The GOP Establishment is synonymous with treachery
We had a najority and it meant nothing. Until the GOPe is divested of power there will be no conservative resurgence. A majority with the current leadership means Marxists remain in control. I will not vote for a scoundrel even if he is a Republican nominee.
It is _obvious_ ; people registered in one party should not be allowed to vote in another party primary. OR, get rid of Democratic/Republic party nonsense altogether. I prefer the parlimentary plurality. Our two party system is way past broken in many ways.
Mississippi Tea Partiers should return the favor in November and vote for the Democrat.
It IS treachery. For a GOP candidate to send out robocalls to black Dems to vote for Cochran in order to “protect Obama”... it’s the lowest of the low.
Each and every GOP-E is a traitor in my eyes. I hope they all drown in their own vomit the next time they go to sleep.
Some former and current FReepers would vote for treachery every time as long as there is an ‘R’ beside the name.
I got a call the other day from a Republican fundraising entity. I told them I have been a lifelong Republican but they can take me off the list as I will not send them any money until they grow a backbone and some gnads.
Question: did some voters vote in both primaries? That is, did Democrat voters vote in the Dem primary and then in the GOP runoff? Is that legal?
Apparently you can, I dunno
If he can’t run (other threads have suggested a sore loser law forbids it) his wife should run. Maintains the name recognition and the campaign organization from the primary. Widows of dead rats and rinos are always deemed credible candidates and usually win. If done seriously the old coot can’t win. But the Republicans could if they’d accept reality and vote for her. And if accused of acting like a sore loser, say “Damn yes, I’m a sore loser. THEY cheated and everyone knows it. THEY don’t deserve to get away with it.”
“....the Republican establishment works to undermine and disenfranchise its own base....”
.
When the RNC calls to ask for money I always tell them that I still vote Republican but that I financially support the Tea Party, only.
“More than that. If the GOP in Mississippi had asked for the run off to be closed, Mississippi was bound by law to do so.”
The Tea Party needs to take over the Mississippi State Republican Party. It needs to run for school boards, mayors, sheriffs, state reps, state senator, governor, dog catcher, etc. It needs to run for party leadership positions. We need to win from the bottom up.
I’m not sure you can vote in both, so I assume that the _game_ is that: the Dem primary is either settled, or is expected to lose against the Rep. Therefore, change parties and vote a RINO Rep. into the final vote.
