I simply won’t bother in most instances. And since I went on the wagon last year, I’ve been pretty good about avoiding elections. My rule of thumb is that unless there is a significant positive (read conservative) choice, my participation is unnecessary and counterproductive. Elections per se aren’t that harmful. Kind of like watching football. But when it becomes the primary focus of a populations political efforts, as it has become in the US, then it’s a problem. It allows the power structure to put on a good circus to distract the populace.
