Minya Misdemeanor Court sentenced an Egyptian correspondent who works for a US TV channel to five years and ordered him pay LE500 bail over charges of inciting sedition by broadcasting false news. [ ]

If this is what they do for misdemeanors I’d hate to see what they do about felonies.
Not much is said about the crime or “crime” except that they say he was somehow falsifying stories of Copts (Christians) getting discriminated against.
That’s pretty repressive and reminds us why our 1st Amendment matters so much.
For felonies, they cut it off.
