A lot of these Knockout attacks lately involve coming up from behind. We need to be very aware of who is around us and yes, increasingly it seems we need to be armed. But even armed does you no good if you never see it coming.

This means a shift in worldview. Too many white folks wander around with their eyes averted because being too aware of your surroundings suggests that you KNOW some people are dangerous. And too many folks are afraid to offend certain groups by acknowledging, even with eye contact, that they might be dangerous.

It’s called “situational awareness”. I’m always armed (except on Fed property)with my head on a swivel. If I even get a little concerned, my hand goes in my purse. My daddy told me “never leave any live enemies on the field”. The General was so cool.

I don’t look them in the eye, I look at where their hands are positioned. Are their hands clenched or open and relaxed?
