Special Forces troops heading to Iraq to advise the Iraqi security forces will not receive combat pay but will have immunity from local law, Pentagon officials said Friday.
"This is not a combat mission, they are not being sent to participate in combat," said Rear Adm. John Kirby, the Pentagon press secretary, of the 300 Special Forces troops ordered to Iraq by President Obama on Thursday.
Consequently, the troops would not be eligible for "imminent danger pay" of $7.50 daily up to $225 per month for service members in areas where they could be at grave risk, Kirby said.
Kirby said danger pay ended for U.S. troops with the withdrawal of forces at the end of 2011, and Iraq currently was no longer considered a combat zone in terms of pay and benefits for U.S. troops.

I think you have your nationalities mixed up. NOT IRANIANS - so far, at least.
According to Obama, it’s all Nuri al-Maliki’s fault. That’s been Obama’s policy towards ISIS’s onslaught in Iraq — find someone to blame, and go back to playing golf.
But there’s been growing pressure on Obama to ‘’do something.’’ So he’s decided to send 300 soldiers on a mission impossible to train Iraqi forces. But Iraq is in an existential crisis — its army can’t spare a single soldier to sit in a training class listening to lectures.
But that doesn’t bother Obama, or his fawning media supporters. So it’s back to the golf course for Obama, after making a short stop to order his speech writers to prepare suitable remarks to deliver to the parents of our dead soldiers as their sons’ body bags are being removed from planes from Iraq.
This is BS. It doesn’t matter if they are “not” going for combat, they are in a combat zone and that is what used to determine combat pay. We nave the worst president ever, and now we have the worst military leaders who don’t back the troops. Appalling!
AMEN! We can send 250 million to Central America after our DHS were the ones paying vendors for bringing the children here (although I feel sorry for the children and there could have been some humanitarian aid previously to prevent this illegal influx from Central America) but now after wasting all that money they are going to donate a quarter of a billion dollars and not pay 300 men combat pay, UNBELIEVABLE!
The Military deserves hazardous duty pay for taking orders from dumBO.
What the hell is wrong with odumbo and his administration?
We sent “advisors” into Nam as well and what did they experience? War! I would love to see which one of the administration “hero’s” would be first to go over there as an ‘advisor”, I’d bet the farm the answer would be “NONE”, ZERO (like their so-called leader). My guess is the advisors aren’t even armed.
When the first “advisor” gets killed for standing next to one of the fighters, odumbo can then repeat, “I didn’t know that would happen”. Oh how I despise odumbo and his ilk!
$7.75 per day because Obama is so into saving the taxpayers money. What a crock.
No surprise...Obama doesn’t pay drones extra and we saw how Seal Team 6 was repaid for getting Osama Bin Laden.
Lets jump into the Wayback Machine and set the dial for 1959 when similar pronouncements about no combat were stated for the Special Forces advisors sent to Viet Nam.
Lately, I’ve been contemplating the similarities between these current circumstances and the beginning of the Viet Nam war as well.
If we had honest media in this country they’d be talking about it on the evening news.
If it’s not a combat zone, send the Girl Scoiuts.
No, didn’t think so.
More Obama BS.
Pencil-necked REMFs
Hey, when I was in it was $115 a month, or $3.80 a day.
WEll, of COURSE they’re not at risk. There’s 300 of them against 50,000 of the enemy - what risk?
That said, a war zone is a war zone - therefore they are entitled to tha measly little $7.50 a day.
That was my first thought: another chance for him to whittle down our spec forces. He's killed more Seals than have been lost to the enemy -
I pray history will repeat itself as to despots - they meet a very unpleasant end.
When 7.50 a day per man is unwarranted to the govt that prints money like the daily news, it’s definitely NOT about the money
More FEELGOOD IDEOLOGICAL BULLSH....
we’ll have to send 300 more to watch the 1st 300’s backs for
“Friendly fire”....form Iraq troops.
They are not the ones Obama wants killed.
..."imminent danger pay" of $7.50 daily up to $225 per month...
My combat pay in Vietnam in 1968 was $66/Month. According to the government's (Bureau of Labor Statistics) Inflation Calculator, the equivalent amount in 2014 dollars would be $451.19.
