Venezuela, a country that takes great pride in its looks, is dealing with an issue that has the country in a major tizzy shortages in beauty products. That means women and men so accustomed to looking their best are now having to do without shampoo, cosmetics and, hold your breath, even deodorant.
The cash-strapped government has been dealing with all sorts of scarcities from staples like milk to medical supplies because the country has put controls on the purchase of hard currency.
And while certain shortages have been more critical like diapers and coffins Venezuelans are still taking the beauty supply crisis seriously.
Shelves in drug stores are virtually empty. Items like nail polish and baby wipes are hard to come by.
Jesús Guillén, a sales clerk in a drugstore in the neighborhood of Altamira in east Caracas, has seen the shortage problem evolve on a daily basis.
This year things have gotten pretty ugly. We have had supply problems with deodorants, shampoos, sun protectors, body lotions. Currently we have neither diapers nor any kind of products for kids.

Something’s rotten in Caracas.
That would make a great article for travelandleisure.com.
I stayed in an Embassy Suites in Caracas a few years back (Chavez was still alive). I asked at the desk what the exchange rate was, dollar to bolivar. You would have thought I had just told them their mother was about to be crucified - they were terrified and wouldn’t answer - they suggested I go across the street to the government Currency Exchange. I never did get the money changed.
Venezuela is a Narco Nation. Iran funded Chavez campaign. Chavez turned Venezuela into the biggest drug distributor in the world.
Chavez legalized drugs, and banned guns. Venezuela became the murder capital of the world.
Today a once wealthy nation, has cocaine on every corner, but no toilet paper.
Beware of drug legalization, and gun regulations.
“I sincerely hope the George Washington of Venezuela arises soon.”
Historian and historical novelist James Michener discussed the different outcomes seen in former Spanish colonies and former British colonies.
Michener was an aficionado of Spain and all things Spanish, but he clearly saw that the corruption in the Spanish monarchy and colonial governments had sown seeds of corruption that bloom perennially even today.
When somebody says “corrupt regime” does your mind go to Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, or to places like Columbia, Nicaragua, and the Philippines?
I don’t know how these former Spanish colonies can excise corruption from the very hearts of their cultures, but we have just seen that putting a murdering commie scumbag in charge is not the answer.
I don’t think they’re ready for a George Washington.
Venezuela is also a China funded nation. China bought the crude on futures contracts that Chavez used to essentially buy votes from the peasants. It’s all falling apart.
Just as Europe has just about conquered BO, Venezuela starts it up. In this case, deodorant is just not available. During the latter part of the Franco regime, the government ran ads urging people to use deodorant with little dramas like a couple on a bus making eyes at each other until they get close enough for a whiff and one gags and runs off. Reasons for European stink at the time was the price of deodorant, many cold water flats and folks just not accustomed to bathing regularly.
Baking soda, salt, and food grade hydrogen peroxide make and excellent toothpaste. Store in a diced pimientos 4 oz. jar. All 5 of my teeth are pearly white. At family reunions my relatives think I am getting uppity.
’ Reasons for European stink at the time was the price of deodorant, many cold water flats and folks just not accustomed to bathing regularly.’
In Europe bathing was thought to be bad for the health therefore they invented perfume to hide the stink. I think it was the French and least I read that somewhere.
In my family we have always been advanced in our thinking, always on the cutting edge, healthwise. So from our youngest years we were taught to bathe at least twice a year. I have no need for deodorants since my natural body order makes me irresistible to women. I am blessed.
I used to think that Sheryl Crowe was a sexy woman till I heard she advocated only using one square of toilet paper. For some reason I find her considerably less sexy. Maybe I am just old fashioned and not as advanced as the left wingers.
Seems that the thing they “need” can be replaced with soap and water.
Gosh - I get by with Ivory bar soap, Axe deodorant, and the occasional splash of Old Spice.
I’ll bet the scum bag socialists running that sh**hole aren’t doing without.
Speaking of TP. I have accumulated untold boxes and a couple of trunks of books with a lot being paperback over the past 40+ years. Recently I was going to get rid of them but in true prepper fashion I thought, hey, these could be used for TP if necessary. Bathroom reading material and TP. Kill two birds with one rock.
You mean that HughBlow’s socialist nation is falling apart because they don’t have beauty products? Well, that is not what holly weird is going to like.
The fruits of socialism
Much of Venezuela’s oil is highly sulfurous and needs a lot of extra processing and controls before it is refined into various products.
In other words, they may have lots of oil (not nearly as much as Hugo’s bald face lie), but it is crap.
Citco - Cheap Insolvents Take Ghetto Oil
Venezuela oil is basically Vaseline. They may have a lot but it’s expensive to produce, gets the lowest price, and the only large refiners are in Texas.
