Had a poster last week explain that the Turks don’t like the communist Kurd terror group the PKK, but that they do like this group in Iraq, and he gave their initials but I forget them....something like GKP???
The Communist group is the PKK, or KGK, depending on what translation you use, they operate on the Turkish/Iraqi Border, launching attacks into Turkey. The major Iraqi Kurdish groups are the KDP (Kurdish Democratic Party) and the PUK (Patriotic Union of Kurdistan) They are the dominant Kurdish political factions controlling Northern Iraq.
The Iraqi Kurdish Government has allowed for several years limited Turkish incursions into their territory for the Turks to target the PKK, as neither side particularly likes them.
