The WMD argument is a legitimate Bush gripe, no matter how you look at it. We went into Iraq with a primary goal being the removal of Saddam’s WMD’s. It turned out there were no WMD’s in Iraq, and we were all misled by bad intelligence.

Even if Saddam somehow succeeded in smuggling them out of the country, as you seem to think is the case, then it’s even more disastrous for the Bush Administration; not only did Bush and Cheney fail to destroy the WMD’s but they were hoodwinked into believing there were no WMD’s when they had in fact fallen into the hands of other Muslims.

"The WMD argument is a legitimate Bush gripe, no matter how you look at it."

Do I have to publish a list of the who's who of the Democratic party who said at the time that Sadaam had WMD's and would use them? This list of quotes has been published over and over in this forum. From both Clintons on down they all believed it. In fact all of the intelligence agencies around the world believed it also. The only one at that time who disputed that Sadaam had constituted this assertion was the former weapons inspector and convicted child molestor Scott Ritter. Even he didn't deny that Sadaam Hussein had WMDs, he just said he didn't believe he had enough to be a threat to the U.S. But the rub is that he had not been in there inspecting since 1998 and even at that time was denied viewing a lot of the WMD inspection sites by Sadaam Hussein.

So I guess what I'm saying is if Bush was fooled, the whole world should line up and admit they were fooled also. Another thing, Bush put the use of force to oust Sadaam from Iraq to a vote in Congress and all of those Dems who criticize him, voted for it. From Clinton, Kerry and Reid right on down the line. He got more votes for that than Bush I got for the First Gulf War. One last tidbit, if you remember Sadaam was interviewed before he was hung and admitted that he was misleading the rest of the world as to his WMDs because he wanted Iran and others to think he had more than he actually did.

He waited too long by getting congressional an UN approvals. He should have just done like our lawless current president did with Libya.
