It happened to me. Last time I flew through Minneapolis St. Paul airport with my 4 year old daughter, the gal in front of me was in full Hijab with 4 teenage boys and was waved through. My daughter and myself got the full scan and pat down. Oh and the TSA agent was a female wearing her TSA uniform and had her face covered by an Islamic head scarf. No lie.
I lost $600 in credit because I decided never to fly again. I had a year to use it and never even considered it. It was non transferrable.
Gold member was disappointing. AP should stop there.

Yeah, right. Mr G had a drivers license without a picture because it is offered here in Tennessee. It didn't matter, as he also has a carry permit with photo and a county ID with photo. When we got to the TSA in Nashville, the woman loudly pronounced that the carry permit was NOT id, and the county ID wasn't acceptable.
The fact that he had to have a thorough background check for the carry permit, and the fact that it has the same number as the drivers license was irrelevant. He pretty near got a cavity search.
All the other flights we took on that trip (another 4) had no problem with the carry permit as ID.
Welcome to the club. I quit flying in 2002. Used to fly 4-5 times a year. Not saying I will NEVER fly again but right now, its been 12 years and counting.
Only 'sometimes'? It's all theater. If they wanted to do something to make air travel safe, all flight crews would be armed. If they really wanted to make flying safe, passengers would be armed as well.
What they are doing has everything to do with controil and conditioning, and nothing at all to do with safety.

I’ve watch people get onto planes in Riyadh without having their ids checked (they were walked behind the counter and onto the plane directly)
