A three word text was released from inside the Embassy about six hours ago: Too late Alamo. That message is open to interpretation.
Just minutes ago news came from within the United States Embassy in Baghdad that the Iraqis have shut down internet service for those barricaded inside. Limited text messages via private cell phones are still coming through.
It is unknown how many of the more than 5,000 U.S. civilians in Baghdad are actually taking refuge inside the embassy compound. NBC war correspondent, Richard Engel reported last night that civilians in and around Baghdad have boarded up residences and businesses.
The embassy lockup is a reminder of when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait in August of 1990 and U.S. civilians were held hostage for months, including those from the State Department and Department of Transportation.
This week ISIS terrorists operating in Iraq have toppled Fallujah, Ramadi, Tikrit, and Mosul, robbing the Bank of Mosul for more than $450 million dollars. ISIS leaders now claim they are the richest terror group in the world, topping al Qaeda and Hamas. This militant group has vowed to overrun Baghdad, the nation's capital, and eliminate the Shiite ruling party.

“You think perhaps going golfing after your intel reports tell you an attack on a staffed billion dollar war zine embassy is imminent qualifies for the mental health provision?”

If that isn’t, I don’t know what is.......
The big problem with the Embassy is that there is a multi-story Iraqi Government building literally across the street from it that gives whomever holds it control of the airspace over the embassy and can bring direct fire into the Embassy compound.
If any Iraq war vets are traumatized by these developments, I understand they can add their names to a list for treatment over at the VA.
And still they do nothing.
I wonder why Obama purges the brass...
Right now they talk about Ukraine situation they going back forth also Pakstein
Zer0 has zero on his mind except golf and his homo amigos. We don’t call him Zer0 for nothing.
Well, Harris is back to Bergdahl now. Sheesh.
Oh my goodness, is there going to be a hostage crises? Or, heaven forefend a slaughter? While Obama is golfing?
Lord, protect our people in Baghdad.
How is the NY Times going to cover this up?
You now these jihadis live to make dead monkeys out of us, time and time again.
Until you can name those “masterminds” and show me a specific hierarchy list for them with annotated references, I don’t buy it.
Unconfirmed Tweet:
ISIS shelling Baghdad International Airport with rockets-buildings set on fire
“Slow Joe must give them pause...”
My goodness, I’d take Joe Biden or the next person who walks up my street.
How could they be worse?
I don’t think Joe Biden hates America.
Wow. I almost feel like I AM watching it.
Thank you. Keep the updates coming.
Mental health provision. It’s the only way.
That’s what I have been saying. At some point its going to be 25th Amendment time. Forget impeachment.
Send them in person with a security detail made up of solely local militia from the local Baghdad area...
Remember the U.S. Embassy in Iran. It probably wouldn’t be a good idea to try to buddy up with Iran in Iraq.
Question did we not build some state of the art new embassy in Iraq for some obscene amount of money?
Guess if that city falls they will burn it to the ground.
From a guy who works in big media:
Yo everybody!
You’re dealing with the Sunday night news crews. It’s gonna be slower. If the big guns are being called in right now (and they probably are), it’s gonna take them a minute or two to get across the GWB and Metro North and LIRR is running on the Sunday schedule.
They will get there, then spend all night trying to figure out how to spin it.
P.S. Word out here in the weeds is that the current occupant at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue has a WHOLE LOT of dems pissed off, and the numbers are growing. Why you asked?
Seems the last few scandals are opening up people’s eyes. Everyone knows something is wrong. We just need some local governments - and yes people to stand up before its too late.
jimjohn - out.
ISIS is entering hostile territory. They didn’t so much win as the Iraqi army simply evaporated and never put up a fight.
Whether they can capture Baghdad depends on whether they can stomach urban warfare.
The Sunni jihadists visceral hostility to the Shias makes the overwhelmingly Shia south hard to subdue.
