A three word text was released from inside the Embassy about six hours ago: Too late Alamo. That message is open to interpretation.
Just minutes ago news came from within the United States Embassy in Baghdad that the Iraqis have shut down internet service for those barricaded inside. Limited text messages via private cell phones are still coming through.
It is unknown how many of the more than 5,000 U.S. civilians in Baghdad are actually taking refuge inside the embassy compound. NBC war correspondent, Richard Engel reported last night that civilians in and around Baghdad have boarded up residences and businesses.
The embassy lockup is a reminder of when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait in August of 1990 and U.S. civilians were held hostage for months, including those from the State Department and Department of Transportation.
This week ISIS terrorists operating in Iraq have toppled Fallujah, Ramadi, Tikrit, and Mosul, robbing the Bank of Mosul for more than $450 million dollars. ISIS leaders now claim they are the richest terror group in the world, topping al Qaeda and Hamas. This militant group has vowed to overrun Baghdad, the nation's capital, and eliminate the Shiite ruling party.

I thought they evacuated!
I stand corrected.
A flight just touched down there, but it had very few details. Then another flight took off at a sharp altitude, again, no details or callsign on that flight.
Looks like all the flights are going past Baghdad, up north and turning around. One, without a callsign, just took off and is headed toward Cairo. It's a big 777 long-range... maybe has our embassy people on it...who knows.

Just got home ..catching up.
What a SNAFU this is. .
I cannot begin to describe the state of mind of my Screaming Eagle son and the buddies he fought with. The betrayal is beyond words.
Wow. Makes me wonder.
Is that the USA Embassy in Iraq that represents the seventh wonder of the world both in cost and absurdity? Too many of our political leaders are not only corrupt but incompetent. They never pay a price.
Sorry but that’s the way I feel. We never should have borrowed and spent that Chinese money that had nothing to do with making our America a stronger better country.
Well that’s special.
This isn’t important.
What’s important is King Fubo’s golf score on his visit to Palm Springs, and how much money he raked in for the DNC.

Australia ready to supply humanitarian aid to Iraq if called upon, says Foreign Affairs Minister Julie Bishop

Australia stands ready to supply humanitarian aid to Iraq and has begun evacuating staff from diplomatic posts in Baghdad, Foreign Minister Julie Bishop has said.
Ms Bishop has also reissued pleas for Australians visiting the country to leave immediately, if it is safe to do so, via the commercial airport in Baghdad.
The Foreign Minister again talked down the likelihood of Australia becoming involved in military action against jihadist group Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, who last week seized control of Iraq’s second largest city, Mosul.
The offensive is part of ISIL’s plan to establish a Sunni Islamist state that runs from Iraq across the border into Syria and beyond.Ms Bishop said the federal government had been given “no indication that the United States would like us to help”.
“At present our focus is on protecting Australian citizens and our interests in Iraq,” she told ABC’s Radio National on Monday.
But she said Australia would assist in the supply of humanitarian aid if called upon to do so.
“We have been talking with our British friends who have a team on the ground,” she said.
“Britain is supplying sufficient humanitarian aid at this stage but we’ve not received a request to assist.
“We certainly stand ready to provide assistance should that be required.”
She said the government was aware of more than 90 Australians in Iraq and said her “strong advice” was that they should leave.
“The international airport in Baghdad continues to operate normally,” she said.
“There are commercial flights available, indeed, Turkish airlines has announced additional flights.
“I do reiterate advice that Australians in Iraq should depart immediately.”
Ms Bishop said Australians concerned about family and friends in Iraq should try to contact them directly as consular assistance had been reduced because of the crisis.
People unable to do so are encouraged to call the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s 24-hour consular emergency centre on 1300 555 135, or +61 2 6261 3305 if calling from overseas.
Ms Bishop said the government had made arrangements for several diplomatic staff to leave the country.
“We will keep an essential core there but we’ve already made arrangements for some of our staff to leave,” she said.
I know my Roman history pretty well. Do you know all the things Caligula did? I thought of Nero but Caligula’s relentless pursuit of personal power to the point of naming himself a god; his totally corrupt nature; and his utter contempt of other branches of governemt reminded me a lot of Obama. Caligula appointed his horse to the Roman Senate and made Senators trot alongside his chariot. Hard to choose between Nero and C. but I think C. was probably the bigger S.O.B.
I think Caligula also once declared war on the ocean, and had his soldiers stab at the waves.
Thanks. The scheduled Iraqi Air flight from India took off about an hour and a half late, but is in route Baghdad, due about 07:30 from the looks of it.

Blurry picture by Jihadist, you can sort of make out a hazy smoke that he claims is from the airport
$750 MILLION.
Looks like all flights are being diverted North.
Is the video that caused all this still up on YouTube?
