A former Northern California transit officer cried on the witness stand Friday while describing how he shot and killed an unarmed man on a train station platform more than five years ago.
Johannes Mehserle testified in federal court in San Francisco that he meant to use his Taser rather than his gun to subdue Oscar Grant on New Year's Day in 2009.
Mehserle was testifying in a civil rights lawsuit filed by Grant's father against Mehserle, the Bay Area Rapid Transit agency and other defendants.

Um, I don’t believe this. Ask him what he did with Lerner’s emails. I’m pretty sure you can tell the difference between a taser and a gun, long before you hear BANG.
I could wish he’d go around America weeping to various police squads and SWAT teams that carelessness costs lives. That would be a better penance than this courtroom kabuki dance.

If the courts allow, this man should pack suitcases, laptops, wife and bambinos and move to the east coast under a different name if possible. Do what you can to move on with your life. It could be that until a certain year passes, he must stay here in the Bay Area. I know nothing about what’s common for such an aftermath.
