The Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA), Pub.L. 99603, 100 Stat. 3445, enacted November 6, 1986, also known as the Simpson-Mazzoli Act, is an Act of Congress which reformed United States immigration law. The act required employers to attest to their employees’ immigration status; made it illegal to knowingly hire or recruit illegal immigrants; legalized certain seasonal agricultural illegal immigrants, and; legalized illegal immigrants who entered the United States before January 1, 1982 and had resided there continuously with the penalty of a fine, back taxes due, and admission of guilt; candidates were required to prove that they were not guilty of crimes, that they were in the country before January 1, 1982, and that they possessed minimal knowledge about U.S. history, government, and the English language.
About *******three million******** illegal immigrants were granted legal status through this act.
OK. What do guys like Paul admit that we have in numbers of illegals now? 12 million? In fact it’s *at least* double that now. So we’ve got nearly ten illegals in 2014 for every one we had in 1986.
Do you see all the `conditions’ above to illegals receiving amnesty? The look good, don’t they?
And don’t they look familiar?
They’re what guys like Paul, Obama & other Democrats and GOP-e are proposing we do again.
In other words, they’re proposing that we do what we never did the first go around.
Enforce the laws! Fine employers who hire them! Deport all of the illegals & declare a moratorium on immigration until we get things sorted out.
Paul’s and Obama’s, the Democrat/GOP-e/libertarian attitude of `benign neglect’ has given us what we have today:
So what do you get when you encourage bad behavior?
You get more bad behavior!
Why do you think Texas is being swamped right now by young people without parents?
They expect amnesty, `three hots & a cot’! And they’re getting the latter.
What’s going to happen once 20-30 million new Democrats are given amnesty?
When our children and grandchildren are middle-aged, when they face yet another liberal/libertarian party arguing for yet another amnesty—excuse me: “comprehensive immigration reform”—for 50-60 million illegals? What happens then?
Simpson-Mazzoli III?
If the rest of us could really believe, “he (Paul) is for strong borders and so am I . He is for legal immigration and so am I.” then it might be different, but sorry, I don’t.
Because we’ve `been there and done that’. Burn me once, shame on you; burn me twice, shame on me. Rand Paul wants what the Democrats want: amnesty. Period.
That’s spinach and to hell with it.
Since Obama can do all this damage without Congress, can’t Congress enact border security without Obama?
Let all, yes even Democrats, who oppose border control step forward.
Sorry, but “Immigration Reform” means ONE THING today, and that is Amnesty (in some form).
We don’t need “Immigration Reform”, we had it in 1986 - the laws we need for ENFORCEMENT were passed back then.
JUST ENFORCE THOSE LAWS. That is all that is necessary.
Well border security is a start and then we need to try to induce as many as possible to self deport through strict enforcement of immigration laws. Plus deport the ones we catch.

Absolutely. One cannot have any meaningful immigration laws without a secure border first.
They also call him an isolationist.
