Twelve hours after House Majority Leader Eric Cantors stunning primary defeat the leadership scramble is already shifting into high gear.
House Rules Committee Chairman Pete Sessions is making an aggressive play for the No. 2 spot. The Texas Republican has been calling and emailing lawmakers seeking support for a potential bid to replace Cantor, according to several sources.
House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy, the chambers No. 3 Republican, has also been speaking with a lot of members. But McCarthy will not engage in a formal campaign until Cantor makes a decision about whether he will stay in leadership for the duration of his term.

Amen. The whole lot needs to go.
All the more reason to consolidate the move into what is now a vacuum created by the instant “lame duck” status of Eric Cantor.
Rep. Cantor may not any longer have the necessary clout and support of his fellow Republicans to effectively lead on anything. This degree of disarray may not have been what the Democrats would have liked to see, as they even now plotting to totally disrupt whatever legislative session remains before elections and the installation of the new Congress. It certainly throws a wrench into their “order of battle” with the Republican majority.
