I don’t want to throw cold water on the celebration, but I’m not sure Cantor is just going to roll over an endorse Brat. I wouldn’t be surprised if Cantor runs as an independent or a write-in candidate in the general election, if only to spite Brat and split the vote. It’s a heavily Republican district, so chances are Brat would still win the general, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Cantor is planning his next move, even as the final votes are counted tonight.

He will go scorched earth. We will overcome it eventually.

Does Va have a “sore loser” law?

Last day to file to run as an independent was today. So that avenue is closed to the weasel. I think write in is still theoretically possible, but extremely unusual in VA. It wasn’t strictly national politics that cooked the weasel. He was looked upon as aloof in his newly drawn district. There was no great love for him and Dave Brat won as a result.
