Bigger statement: Vote for the Democrat.

If the democrat were more conservative than the republican ... I could bring myself to do that (to vote for the democrat). But in this case, Grimes is not such a candidate. In the end, she assumes office and McConnell is retired either way. (With retiring McConnell being the victory we seek.) So the result is the same. But she'd have to do it without my vote. I'd be writing in "Bevin".

I totally disagree -- voting for the Democrat would be an invisible act. For one thing, there'd be zero evidence that your Dem vote was a likely Republican vote gone south. For another thing, you'd still be voting for empowering leftism.

Writing in the name, or voting 3rd party even knowing the candidate will lose, not only registers soundly as a potential Republican vote gone south and deprives a liberal of a vote, but it REDUCES the mandate of whichever liberal, the Republican or the Democrat, wins.

Votes matter. Now, I only think in terms of what I am voting FOR. If that has to be voting FOR a plurality, where whichever liberal wins does so with less than 50%, that is a thousand times better than voting FOR increasing liberalism in both parties, which is what voting for liberal Republicans does.

Bigger statement: Vote for the Democrat.

Ultimate statement: Set yourself afire in protest.

What I mean by that, is that the GOP sux less than the Dems, and the least worst is the best choice at the moment. Longer term, I'd like to see a third, truly conservative party, emerge at state and local levels. But that's only a possible future, and we have to deal with the now. A Dem protest vote is like honorable suicide. So sorry.

Would Grimes be better? I mean, she would be voting for Obama 100% of the time.
