Yup. As General Omar Bradly once observed “In war there's no second place prize for the runner up’’. Over the years I surmised that after Stalingrad the German General Staff knew Germany would lose the war. And when America entered the fight they knew for certain all was lost. The Werhmact was staggered but not beaten and I suppose the Germans fought only to satisfy honor and do the duty of fighting for their country.
