It’s not likely to be very convincing, but it is, IMO, always wise to listen to the other side before making a judgment.
There is no other side. In 2010 The army did its own investigation and concluded the guy deserted/walked off and had walked off at least once before. How many times do you have to “walk off” before you are a deserter?
