HAILEY, Idaho (AP) Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl's hometown abruptly canceled plans Wednesday for a welcome-home celebration, citing concerns over its ability to handle the large crowds both for and against the soldier that were expected.
The town of 8,000 has been swamped with hate mail and angry calls over Bergdahl, whose release after five years of Taliban captivity in Afghanistan has touched off a debate over whether the 28-year-old should get a hero's welcome or be punished a deserter.

Apparently he wasn’t a captive for five years - he was an honored guest.
He couldn't lead Charlie Sheen to a hooker in a bar.
They’ll be happy they did. The guy will get jail time or worse. The father acts like a Moslem sympathizer too.
Why do I get the feeling that they are still going to have a celebration but they will tone it down and not announce it publicly and he will just show up sitting in the back of a car in a 4th of July parade.
Let’s see Politico spin this!

It’s easy for Bob Bergdahl to sympathize, because he is a Muslim.
They should move the celebration to Dearborn, Michigan. He’d be much more comfortable there.
I want to see more of the Bergdahl Father.
That guy looks like a burned out hippie who went around the bend and ended up in phony Islamville.
They dying with embarrasement and facebook comments bottom line you be embarrsed you don’t celebrate this loser as hometown hero
Good news.
I wonder if they'll cancel their annual Vidkun Quisling Festival this year too.
Yes and I wonder if he was into Islamville even before his son entered the military. and if so, did his son enter the US military to spite his father?
How about a traitor hanging party in the town square.

Yep. The “Benito” treatment on some of these folks would, I think, have a positive effect.
Does anyone know what the dad does for a living??
I haven’t heard what the father does for a living.
Also for Mullah Omar.
Dad worked for UPS and was supposedly upset that his career as an Olympic athlete got sidelined by Carter’s boycott of the 1980 Olympics because of Russia’s invasion of Afghanistan.
