I’d limit the comps in the participation rate to the 1970-present period ,, currently we’re at about the same point as 1976 ,,, when women were still underrepresented in the workforce ... prior to the 1970’s we had a mostly male workforce AND an economy where a single salary could support a household ... we now have a situation where multiple incomes are necessary for most households and where a large percentage of these households are hurting on the compensation front due to inflation , loss of benefits to pay for O-Care , loss of hours to avoid O-Care .. and the ongoing harm from de-linking the USD from Gold and offshoring production which has been eroding incomes for 30+ years.
uhhhh...how much has the US working age population increased in that time?
Someone who replaced a professional salaried job with a burger-flipping job counts as equivalent jobs?

We are nowhere near the break even point.
Obama is cooking the books. He calls 1 person having 2 part time jobs as 2 people having a job.
Obama counts 30 hours per week as a full-time job.
Obama counts the unemployed as not part of the lab or pool within 30 days of losing their job.

Wyatt... why name call , Code Toad is correct ,, your charts are skewed by the factors he stated ,, it’s cooked into the BLS formula http://www.bls.gov/cps/cps_htgm.htm ... your St. Louis Fed charts are only telling the quantity story ,, not a word about QUALITY of those jobs..
In particular the post 2010 increase in the total employment is due completely to Obamacare and the cut in hours , the redefining of “full time” and the “new normal” of people having multiple part time jobs which ARE counted by the job and increase the total job count.
What the heck are you talking about?????
My story is EXACTLY the example of someone being laid off and having exhausted my savings I ended up in another state in a job that is NOT in my field, is essentially menial, and pays my 1/4th what I was making before.
You apparently lack reading comprehension
seeing that you are from Colorado I might draw some conclusions...What I will say is I am disappointed. Those of us who were born and raised in Colorado received a better education than you showed
I have not commented on the quality of jobs. The article says we will regain all the lost jobs since the recession. People on this site say it’s not true. That is provably false from the data shown. When conservatives on this site make comments like they do about the economy they look like idiots. If you want to continue down that path be my guest. Feel free to remain ignorant. It’s your choice.
Your reading comprehension is that of a third grader. Try reading my comments again. What an juvenile idiot.
Your writing is incoherent

So to you if you have a new Maserati stolen and it’s replaced with a well used Trabant to you that is a valid equivalent replacement... 20 hr part time jobs without bennies DO not equal full time career positions... your not coming off well with your tortured “reasoning”.
How many of us know workers/people, who were 62 or older or became 62 during/after the economy melted down. Then, they lost their jobs and never found a full time job during and after the financial meltdown.
How many of those people went on SS, and if they were lucky got a part time job to supplement their SS?
When did the Obozo thugs stop counting those people as no longer unemployed?
Since Obozo Care/Scam went into effect, how many business owners looked for and hired these part time seniors?
