The outcome is a surprise to me; I would have thought Cochran would have won with 53 percent but wouldn’t know why hardly anyone would be for him.
I have a friend connected to Cochran who said he would have rather retired, but the good old boys establishment really pressured him, basically promising to do all the leg work for him. They would have put their own new candidate up had they known how Cochran felt earlier, but as it is, they didn’t have time. Hence the reason Cochran put forth zero effort. He’s old and tired. Just shows how desperate gop is to keep power
