Covington county is 100% out. The county election commissioner says that she is home in bed, and won’t be releasing results tonight.

3rd guy voters will not vote for Cochran because they would not be voting for the long shot 3rd guy if Cochran needed their votes which he does.
So the 3rd guy voters will break for McDaniel or sit home.
The wild card is the dem voters that Cochran’s camp whistled over.
FOX has gone curiouly cash time so much lately. Hour long commercial programming at the oddest times, and then have nothing going on primary contests, even on the scroll line.

Republicans should insist a runoff is by party only no open contest.

Covington should be a big win for mcdaniel. The surrounding counties; jones, jeff davis, smith, lamar, all went overwhelmingly mcdaniel.

there are dem results coming in for Covington. maybe she changed her mind. Maybe someone called her and told her to get her a$$ to work and do her job.
How important is Covington County? Which way does it lean and how many dems vs. repubs?
To answer your question, yes it gives time for fixing because the last county reporting will know how many votes to manufacture to get the desired outcome.
I read that Cochran’s camp was appealing to dems for help. Is Covington a dem stronghold relative to other counties?

Oh,FFS. Grab the reins. A late county is not automatic proof of freaking vote fraud.
In my experience it most certainly is a red flag. King County Washington always waits until all the counties have reported and then suddenly bags of missing ballots get found etc.
But I read above that Covington is McDaniel territory so nothing to fear.
Ok, here a conspiracy nightmare for ya: rankin is a big county with probably 10,000 votes left to count. it has been stuck at 68% all night. pretty evenly split right now. the overall margin is 3,000
let the freak out begin.
Covington gave Mcdaniel an extra 1100 votes. I don’t see this going back to Cockroach he may as well retire. He will lose the runoff.
I don’t know Mississippi but I do remember reading that the Cochran camp engaged dem operatives to help in the primary. Now I give weight to that report because it’s SOP in many states today to select a moderate GOP candidate in red states. John McCain’s campaign uses this to eliminate his conservative challengers. The way the dems look at it is they are going to lose the general anyways because the state is red so they might as well get a GOP candidate that works for them.
Another standard play from the playbook is to have an elections officer of an influential county drag their feet and be the last county reporting and then spring a surprise at the last moment. This has happened in numerous states now and has been proven in a few.
There’s no conspiracy thinking here, only observation and reasonable conjecture.
How does Rankin lean? Are there a lot of dems there that could have been summoned to vote for Cochran?
