Some U.S. Troops in Afghanistan Ambivalent About Bergdahl Rescue
The Wall Street Journal ^ | Sunday, June 1, 2014 | Julian E. Barnes

BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan—There is excitement and enthusiasm among the senior leadership of the military now that Sgt Bowe Bergdahl, the only U.S. soldier held as a prisoner of war, is on his way home. But among rank-and-file troops at Bagram Air Field on Sunday, there was much more ambivalence.

SNIP

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel arrived for a two-hour stop at Bagram and met briefly with some of the elite special-operations forces who brought back Sgt. Bergdahl from a group of Taliban officials. Speaking before a group of more than 200 troops, Mr. Hagel thanked those "who had something to do with that effort" to bring back Sgt. Bergdahl.

"This is a happy day as you all know, for our country, for our armed forces, because we got one of our own back," Mr. Hagel said.

There was no applause or whoops from the troops at Mr. Hagel's comments and no sense of excitement in the crowd. Senior officers said later the enlisted service members were intimidated by a visit by the Secretary of Defense.

I’d bet a whole lot more than some troops are ambivalent about his rescue!

Intimidated? Right. They were staring at a top official of our government who is in league with our enemies. That kind of intimidation.

Hagel is just as much a traitor as Bergdahl for serving the Usurper.

Sounds like Senior Leadership and Senior Officers are Obamabots. He has replaced the Military Leadership that wouldn’t go along with his plans, with sycophants who put Obama before the troops. And the guys/girls were supposedly intimidated by the SecDef??? Yeah, right!

Ambivalent means you are disinterested. You don’t care.

These troops weren’t disinterested.

They were pissed.

“Intimidated”? It is but to laugh...more like they refused to be used as props in a victory tour, spiking the football kind of thing...

I doubt that SF operators are the kinds of folks who are “intimidated” by an ex-E3 acting like a cheerleader for a treasonous administration.

Bored, pissed at having to attend another formation for a desk jockey idiot, being late for chow, missing AFRT 60s re-runs or playoff games, yes .... doubtful that they were intimidated.

Ha! That should be the reaction every time Obama or one of his Cabinet lackeys speak to the military!
