Of course they wanted to bring him home. They needed to tidy up loose ends before the full Afghan surrender. It wouldn’t look good if we still had an American soldier on the books as a POW after we left. Obama didn’t want to look bad.

Now that the truth is emerging, they may wish that they had left things alone. The story about the Non disclosure agreement has been out there for some time in military circles, but it’s not worth much now, the cat’s out of the bag.
