Starbucks, Chipotle, Sonic and other food and drink chains have an unexpected new ally in their recent decisions to discourage the carrying of firearms in their establishments: the NRA.
On Friday, the NRA weighed in on a spate of recent open carry rallies across Texas, calling them scary and shows a lack of consideration and manners out of character in the Lone Star State.

That was PUTZ that spell check auto-corrected.
what is weird about it?
A couple goofballs wearing ARs like a fricken necklace, in a fast food place, is STUPID!
The NRA called it “weird”, not me.
The clowns here trying to explain that because its legal, people ought to get comfortable with the sight, will find that going to these lengths to make a point is the express route to failure.
It makes it tough for those who understand that the first rule in Security is to keep your security secret.
You shouldn’t drunk post...
Is it the idea of “protesting while exercizing the only means of open carry of firearms open to you legally by your State” that you don’t like?
Or just Fatty and Snowboots’ little photo op pose?
If the former, go back and read Nunn v State of Georgia.
Um... No. There is a rule in war that you can get your enemy to attack you by looking weak where you are actually strong.
So, if you want to be attacked, look weak.
That doesn't translate well in the civilian world. If you look like food, something will try to take a bite out of you.
Uh...YES!
It IS the first rule of Security in the civilian world.
Why do you cite “a rule in war” and then try to tell me my citation doesn’t translate in the civilian world.
In the civilian world if you look like a threat you have a better chance of being shot by cops than you do of protecting against a punk attack.
Carrying an AR into a fast-food place has the look of insecurity and a show-off.
Looking strong is about the way you carry yourself and demonstrate situational awareness.
When you exhibit those two traits, CCW is sufficient insurance.
You have two people. Same height, age group, general size, etc...
One, looks completely disarmed. Nothing threatening about them at all.
The other, has a nice 1911 in a leather Galco strong side holster.
You, are a robber intent on grabbing a wallet.
Who do you attempt to rob? The guy who looks easily intimidated? Or the guy who looks like he could end you?
How did we handle the former Soviet Union? By making ourselves look weak? Or strong?
You may as well have just said you know nothing about how any of this works and saved us all a lot of typing.
If I’m the robber, I come up behind the guy with the .45 on his hip, shoot him in the back of the head, and take his gun and his wallet.
Which is why so many cops get robbed...
You aren’t thinking this through. There is a huge leap from robbing someone and murder.
You’re not a cop!
And, Yes, I am “thinking this through”.
A robber with a gun, has already contemplated murder.
Using your logic, if it’s that easy... Cops should carry concealed then too.
As should our military...
Sorry, but that is just retarded. You sure you don’t want to rethink your stance?
Comparing Cops and Military to civilian circumstances is retarded.
Cops and military have a mission need that civilians do not.
You should try the “rethinking”.
Logic isn’t your strong suit... Is it...
So, because cops and the military have a “mission”... Criminals/predators would treat them differently...
You aren’t even trying to make a coherent point any more. You sound like a Brady Bunch moron.
My Logic is just fine.
I’m not the one pretending that having an AR slung over your neck while going into fast food joints should be some cultural norm, with which citizens and law enforcement should learn to be comfortable....because they’re just carrying like that to ensure they aren’t robbed....cuz that’s what soldiers and cops do....
You call THAT “logic”????
No. I call it protesting an unjust State law by carrying what you legally can in any manner you can to try to get your full Rights restored by pointing it out publicly how absurd it is...
You don’t like RKBA. We get it. Armed civilians make you nervous. Fine.
Just don’t pretend to hold any moral high ground.
Ah....now your slip is showing...
It’s a “protest” “in any manner” to illustrate an absurdity.
Seems like “goofball”, “weird”, and “stupid” are pretty apt descriptions after all.
I’ll continue to CCW my Sig P220 Carry SAO, and take breaks from FR to take the long gun to the back deck and plink rabbits....you keep that AR draped around your neck on your trips to Mickey D’s.
No. You should take a break from FR to figure out why being a Fudd is almost as bad as being an anti-gunner...
You’re the one so anxious to give the gun grabbers an excuse to restrict our rights.
They’ll say they’re going after the show-offs, and end up restricting CCW.
Only if you keep eating our own.
Nice going Ace...
Maybe you noticed that 90% of individual posters on this thread and the NRA support my position.
and then there’s Skippy
