An ordinance that gradually increases the minimum wage in Seattle to $15 an hour was approved Thursday by a City Council committee, setting up a full council vote next week. In a boisterous meeting, City Council members approved a delay to the implementation of the ordinance, from Jan. 1, 2015 to April 1, 2015.

April Fools day.. how appropriate.
Given taxation policy, the entire population of Seattle is essentially working 24/7 for Seattle ... and therefore entitled to the minimum wage.
This will be entertaining
Anyone know where the slums are in Seattle?
Yes, why?
They had quite a Hooverville in the 1930’s. Open land is much harder to find now.
gradual? That’s not fair to these poor exploited workers at all. Hike it. Hike it now. bump it to $20, just to be fair.
Next ... $20 Starbucks Foam Lattes ...
Poverty and unemployment have been outlawed in Seattle.
Will the last person leaving Seattle please turn out the lights?
The delay gives businesses more time to figure how to get by with fewer employees. But well-off liberals will feel good about themselves. That’s all that matters.
I guess the conquest of Washington by California is complete.
The infection has spread, so that they now feed on each other. With the living and working envying the dead and on the dole.
Ping.
Counterintuitively, now would be a great time to invest in real estate in Seattle. This law banishes everyone who isn’t worth 15/hr from the city limits. They will move out to the suburbs, and the lilly whites will move in, gentrifying the city into a white liberal enclave. Lilly whites don’t mind ridiculous costs of living, so there will be a real estate boom there.
It would be Obamaville , but homeless people ceased to exists when The Won was immaculated.
Although I dont know the scope of this ordinance, remember that the states, not the feds, have the 10th Amendment-protected power to define intrastate minimum wage and overtime wage policy. (All that Constitutionally indefensible federal minimum wage amounts to is a vote-winner for corrupt federal politicians imo.)
Im glad that Seattle is experimenting with high minimum wage. Im sure that many people will be looking over Seattles shoulder to see what happens.
Wusses! They shudda made it $100.
