I haven’t been there since the 1980s, but my experience was that haoles were at the bottom of the heap.

Yes, but now we’re not really dealing with Hawiians, but with the decendants of those Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, Korean, etc., immigrants.

And they all have one thing in common: they’re not white, an exalted status to which the white man cannot aspire.
