If Patrick gets rid of the Dems in chairman positions in the Senate, he will have done more to move forward conservative legislation than any Texas politician in my memory.
It's telling that Dewhurst shared power by giving the Dems those chairmanships in the first place.
Committees are great places to kill legislation.

TX has a tradition that legislative committee chairmanships are NOT based on party. It’s a tradition likely to continue.

Johnny, enlighten me...how does Dewhurst as Lt Gov have say in Texas senate committee chairmanships?

If Patrick gets rid of the Dems in chairman positions in the Senate...I wholeheartedly agree. I do think Patrick will have to be watched closely. Although he breaks our way often, I don't think he's totally reliable. For now, though, I'll take him. We'll get some wins with Patrick as Lt Gov, even if its only for a while.
