Like President H.W. Bush after being in the glow of President Reagan for 8 years?

Do you think he was kicked out of office in 1992 because he was so Reagan like?

Patrick was a big Dewhurst supporter to defeat Cruz.

Helping to elect a Democrat, either directly or indirectly, is something a Conservative should never do.

You are saying that a conservative must vote Republican to avoid indirectly helping Democrats. That is exactly why I spotted you and knew that you are always GOP and sometimes conservative maybe. Your words are carefully chosen but do not hide that you are pretending about something which you are not altogether sincere.

Yep. He's an opportunist. A sleazy one at that. I look forward to the Dems getting stripped of their chairmanships in the Texas Senate.

Why would cornball change? His takeaway from this years primary is that he can fool the voters by voting the right way at the wrong time (when his vote doesn’t matter). How is the election results of some state wide office going to play into his behavior calculus when his next election (after the general election which he is not going to lose) is six years off

You're right, Cornball won't change; only some of the uninformed hope he will.

I just said I was a Ted Cruz supporter and you ask if I’m against all professing Christians? Reading comprehension for the win?

Patrick is an opportunist, he is a Christian boldly and proudly when it is advantageous to do so. He brought Rush to a conservative county... not really a bold risk there. His biggest selling point this election is that he is not Doworst. If he does a good job, I’ll re-evaluate. So far, he hasn’t done anything to change my poor opinion of him.

TX has a tradition that legislative committee chairmanships are NOT based on party. It’s a tradition likely to continue.

Why do Democrats invariably support Obama, Reid, and Pelosi regardless of what their voters or their financial supporters might think? It’s not because they agree with the leadership on every issue or that the Democrat Party is all of one mind on policy and politics. They fall in line because the Democrats have power and use it to impose discipline on their members.

This is what Conservatives need to do. Seize power within their party and use that power to bend the rest to their will. We are making progress in that direction but it remains to be seen if Conservatives can impose some discipline.

“It’s telling that Dewhurst shared power by giving the Dems those chairmanships in the first place.”

Johnny, enlighten me...how does Dewhurst as Lt Gov have say in Texas senate committee chairmanships?

Breaking that tradition would start to make me reconsider my opinion of Dan Patrick.

Harbor whatever nonsense theory you wish. Conservatives cannot wield political power unless and until they hold it. If you don’t have power, you are just pissing into the wind. It’s really that simple. No one ever got elected with 30% of the vote.

And rino’s prevent the party from enforcing discipline. Texas is a strong conservative state that doesn’t have to send a Rino. You keep repeating your point and ignoring the fact that if a conservative state can’t send anything better than a rino... then all we will have are rinos.

Big Texas-sized pile of bull manure. You care for Constitutional conservatism as much as you do the TEA movement. You are GOP straight up and only GOP.

I do think the margin has to do with the smear campign backfiring? I wonder what it means for Mississippi next week. I have family their that think that the McDainel campign is running a whisper campign about the old senate having an affair with the aid and that why the picture of his wife is blowing up so big. They think McDainel will go down by a big margin as word is alot of ave voters are blaming him.

You aren't a conservative. You are a Republican.

If the Republican party won't get conservative, it needs to be destroyed.

I aim to see that happen.

It's no good having a majority if they are liberals like McConnell and Cornyn.

If Patrick gets rid of the Dems in chairman positions in the Senate...

I wholeheartedly agree. I do think Patrick will have to be watched closely. Although he breaks our way often, I don't think he's totally reliable. For now, though, I'll take him. We'll get some wins with Patrick as Lt Gov, even if its only for a while.

Important thing to remember is Abbott and Cruz will be running the show, and they cannot be bought off. Patrick will deliver TEA or he will be shown the door as Dewhurst was tonight.
