Elliot Rodger pounded on the sorority house front door while, inside, the young women he yearned to slaughter were preparing for another Friday night.
The awkward 22-year-old was obsessed with exacting retribution for what he experienced as a lifetime of social and sexual isolation, and had planned meticulously to target as many people as possible, authorities say. But here again, he was denied access to those he felt should worship him.
So when no one answered after several minutes, Rodger improvised.

Narcissism is a personality disorder, like avoidance, dependance, or obsessive-compulsion.
It’s extremely common, especially in young people, and may or may not accompany genuine mental illness.
Oh, I just saw your post. What you said, exactly...
Just look at him! Gay as a three-dollar bill! No wonder no girl wanted him!
That would take some thought since he is half Chinese.
The guns and the car only got involved after the knives started it. It’s chicken to give the knives a pass. They did 50% of the killings.
In his own words, he was friendless from age 14 on.
And there is no native speaker of English in all of time or eternity who could possibly interpret my earlier post as calling you a Nazi sympathizer. Or an anti-Semite!
My point is and was that murder motivated by racial and gender hatred can’t be automatically attributed to “mental illness,” because it’s so uncanny that it makes us feel better to chalk it up to looney-tunes. Because the alternative, that evil might exist in this world, is simply beyond our ken.
I’m not afraid or too smart to call evil, evil. The Nazis were totally in control of their faculties, and they were evil murderers. The 9/11 hijackers were in control of their faculties and they were evil murderers.
This kid didn’t hear voices or see white rabbits. He said on paper and on tape what he was going to do and why. He was evil.
And I’m not calling you an Islamo fascist sympathizer.
You really need to read it yourself, because your claims are totally inaccurate. Just off the top of my head, I can name several friends he had after he was 14 were James, Addison Altendorf, Philip, some French guy named Max, an adult friend named Rob Lemelson. You need to read this before commenting on it.
He said in his last video he was friendless from age 14. Since that reflects more poorly on him, and he’s such a narcissist, I’m inclined to believe the video on that point. Why lie about it?
You should watch the videos as well as read the manifesto.
I can’t fathom to the end of days if everyone in his community from his parents(Hollywood though they be) to the police, his teachers and the few, if any friends he had, couldn’t see this guy had a head full snakes and a heart full of hate. If any good comes out of this tragedy maybe perhaps the Hollywood elitists (who own guns and have armed body guards) and the loony , screeching liberals might finally see that gun controls don’t work. Yeah, right and someday pigs will fly.
He moved around and had a completely tolerated truancy record enough for the teachers to miss it. His friends didn't, and they dropped off one by one because being around the guy was just too creepy to stand. The last one he wrote about he said broke off the relationship because he "just didn't want to hear that s[tuff] anymore." The stuff was Rodgers' incessant talk about how he would torture his enemies.
I took some notes when I was slogging through that screed and one of the early ones was (please forgive me) "nothing wrong with this guy that an azz-kicking and six weeks in Boot Camp wouldn't cure." It took me about one more chapter to realize how wrong that was. But I can see how he fooled people who only met him once. Glib, very glib, and he'd figured out what people wanted to hear.
