The VA is simply a welfare bucket to hand out jobs to losers who can’t get a job elsewhere.

I agree. The situation with the VA is hopeless. Hopeless because they are overloaded and hopeless because they are totally incompetent. When I was diagnosed with cancer last October, I didn't bother going to them for treatment. I went to UNC Chapel Hill, got into a clinical trial, and was cured in less than two months.

They get $78 billion a year. Just hand the money out to ex-G I’s in the form of vouchers, and let them sign up for the GS-type health packages. End the torment and failure, along with the countless hours of Congressional investigations that seem to go nowhere. The ex-G I can go locally and get into some pretty decent programs that GS employees already value. No need to carry on this argument.

I live in Chapel Hill.... Really excellent hospital. They may call Durham, with three big hospitals (Duke, Durham VA and Durham Regional) the City of Medicine, but the best care is right down the road.

Friends of mine who work at both Duke and the Durham VA went to UNC for their cancer treatment....
