That’s funny.
My great grandfather arrived in southern Iowa in 1902 from Sweden. He worked in the coal mines and laid bricks until he saved enough money to bring his wife and daughter from Sweden.
The daughter was my mother’s mother.

The mining connection is interesting. My great grandparents on mom’s side were both mining engineers from Sweden.

Mom said they came to America when the mines in Sweden played out, sometime in the early years of the 1900’s
