A longtime political pundit under fire for claiming the American ambassador to Libya was not "murdered" in Benghazi is standing by her claim he died of smoke inhalation.
"I'd like to point out that Ambassador (Chris) Stevens was not 'murdered;' he died of smoke inhalation in that safe room in that CIA installation," Eleanor Clift, a columnist at The Daily Beast, said Sunday on "The McLaughlin Group."
While Clift may be technically correct in light of reports that Stevens died from smoke inhalation, she was criticized because the ambassador died as a result of a fire ignited during a terrorist raid on the Benghazi consulate on Sep. 11, 2012.
She stood by her comment Tuesday during a radio interview.
"I was taking issue with the sort of glib use of the word 'murdered,'" Clift told radio host Steve Malzberg. "My point is that it was a very chaotic event. The CIA was involved, which is why there was a lot of confusion initially, and that all the questions that this special committee is raising have been asked and answered in previous investigations."
Malzberg asked if she would feel the same way if it was her relative. She replied, "I would say he died of smoke inhalation."
Author and columnist Pat Buchanan, who was on the Sunday show's panel, reportedly said he was "stunned cold" by her remarks.

i guess if someone kills another person by shooting him, she would say he died of internal injuries... or if someone died because he was shot in the head, she would say he died of brain trauma...
Most likely she would say they were killed by the evil gun.
More evidence Benghazi is going nowhere as an issue. The mainstream media pundits are in full coverup mode. The spin message is, “we’ve covered it all, no new news here.” Gowdy will be stonewalled this summer. Boehner and McConnell will be jamming amnesty through Congress this summer once the primary season is over. They won’t give Gowdy one ounce of support.
Obama, the media, and the progressives in Congress have moved on to income inequality and global warming. For them Benghazi and Lois Lerner are ancient history. They will make sure the Gowdy committee tilts at windmills.
Anyone that stupid needs to seek medical help. She is brain dead. Why she is even on that show is beyond belief.

And, USA Embassy property is sovereign territory of the United States of America. So, our laws supersede the laws of Libya.
At least, on the Embassy grounds.
Four men died in Benghazi because of this Democrat administration's utter lack of concern for those who fight to defend the freedoms this nation's founders pledged their sacred honor to establish and preserve!
IF no-one from the CIA had been willing to lose their lives to defend the compound in Benghazi, the death toll would have been so high NO ONE could sweep this event under the rug.
Thank God there were only 4 men killed on 9 /11/12.
But this Admin's policies are DEADLY! Just ask the Veterans dying for lack of VA care, or the 200+ girls kidnapped by Boko Haram, or the dead members of Seal Team 6 killed in the helicopter crash, or the soldiers in Afghanistan killed by the new ROE's, or...

yes--after watching Law and Order for a number of years, i gather criminal negligence surely applies... gross negligence is not enough...
