My Reine des Violettes made it through this harsh Winter and is now in bud, but I sustained staggering losses this year. I lost Mme. Isaac Perreire and my Yellow Lady Banks, both of which I planted over twenty years ago. Baronne Prevost has succumbed and Marchioness of Londonderry is in a parlous state.

Substantial work awaits me, most of which will have to be done by my children - I no longer have the strength to do that kind of work. Yet we push on.

I lost a lot of roses too, several David Austens and even a couple Knockouts. Queen Elizabeth and Ebb Tide survived but Mordens Blush didn't. I don't know if I'll replace the ones that I lost as my herniated disks no longer like digging rose holes. :-)

I'll be staying with David Austin roses going forward. The Prince and Graham Thomas have endured, although barely.

I've lived in this house - in central Maryland - since 1989. I started out with a lot of Hybrid Teas, all gone in short order. I went to OGR in the early 90's because I didn't want to use a lot of pesticides, because they were hardier, and because they have much more fragrance.

They have all endured grandly until this winter. I have Mme. Plantier in the Front Garden, the milder of the two, and I'm not sure she's going to make it.

BTW, I've seen nary a Jap Beetle the last few years - they must favor HT's!

My Graham Thomas, Dark Lady, Eglantyne and Glamis Castle are showing green but they were hurt. My two Hawkeye Belles were even hurt and they’re cold weather roses as is Mordens Blush. A tree fell on Sombreuil and it’s alive. LOL La Reine made it too. All my yellows except for Sunny Knockout died.
