A number of fires are burning throughout Southern California as the area faces high temperatures and winds. Here's a rundown:
Fires: Carlsbad/Poinsettia Fire Camp Pendleton/Tomahawk Fire Anaheim fire Ventura/Briggs Fire Long Beach fire Bernardo Fire Miguelito Fire

Camp Pendleton: A brush fire burning at Camp Pendleton has lead to an evacuation order for Naval Weapons Station Fallbrook and Camp Pendleton's De Luz housing, according to the Camp Pendleton Scout. It has been named the Tomahawk Fire. Officials say the fire has spread to more than 100 acres, the Associated Press reports.

Mary Fay Pendleton Elementary School on the base has also been ordered to evacuate. Evacuees are being sent to Camp Pendleton's Paige Field House.

Thanks, Hebrews!
We’ve been without electricity for going on 7 hours now. Got the generator up and running now. I don’t know who that loony toon was that made that obnoxious post but appreciate you catching and flagging it for me.
We moved from Carlsbad to Arizona in the mid 90s so many fond memories of that area (Tamarack and El Camino Real). Stay safe!
Hearing about a fire in Lakeside/El Cajon area. Any info on that?
Used to Live in LA but now am on the east coast near
A/C.
Santa Ana who knew never had to spell it before! But have seen those winds throw 3/4 x 4 x 12 sheet rock around like paper plates!
9 fires actively burning in San Diego County:

Info on school closures in the North San Diego area:
Fires raging throughout the north county have prompted several evacuations and closures at schools and colleges.
The fast-moving Pointsettia Fire caused the Carlsbad Unified School District to close all campuses for the rest of the week to accommodate students, personnel and families affected by the destructive blaze.
That will allow our families to stay with their children until we work through this (fire), said Carlsbad Superintendent Suzette Lovely.
The Encinitas Union, San Marcos Unified, Oceanside Unified, and Poway Unified school districts will close their campuses on Thursday, with plans to resume classes on Friday. Cal State San Marcos has also canceled classes and postponed final exams scheduled for Thursday.
(I also heard Vista was canceling their schools tomorrow, but don’t have confirmation of that.)
Yep, Vista Unified has closed schools for tomorrow also.
I don’t believe your map. I traveled from the Rocky Mountains in NM, across the Oklahoma panhandle all the way to central Oklahoma. From Springer, NM clear to central Oklahoma was the greenest I have seen it in 63 years.
If it had been that green 62 years ago we would never have left the high plains.
not sure if someone is setting fires or not. Out of 9 San Diego County fires along I-15 and 1-5, only one was a burning vehicle. San Marcos was a hillside fire behind the college of unknown causes. Scripps Ranch/Lakeside also vegetative. The Highway Fire was just that, highway vegetation alongside I-15. Carlsbad sounds pretty bad but contained now? and read that schools are closing for two days? Pendleton is still burning.
And it’s not going to start raining until at least December.
Vista has cancelled school.
Talking on 760 right now about the possibility of these fires being deliberately set.
Looks like the Lakeside fire has been contained. Prayers continuing for the other areas.
You said Lakeside...is this the same Lakeside near El Cajon?
Yes.
Didn’t Obama just release a large number of convicted illegal alien arsonist from prison? Never saw this coming. /s
Are any of these fires anywhere near Cardiff-by-the-Sea in northern San Diego County?
I have some cousins there.
The fire are north of Cardiff by the Sea. They should be safe.
