A number of fires are burning throughout Southern California as the area faces high temperatures and winds. Here's a rundown:
Fires: Carlsbad/Poinsettia Fire Camp Pendleton/Tomahawk Fire Anaheim fire Ventura/Briggs Fire Long Beach fire Bernardo Fire Miguelito Fire

Camp Pendleton: A brush fire burning at Camp Pendleton has lead to an evacuation order for Naval Weapons Station Fallbrook and Camp Pendleton's De Luz housing, according to the Camp Pendleton Scout. It has been named the Tomahawk Fire. Officials say the fire has spread to more than 100 acres, the Associated Press reports.

Mary Fay Pendleton Elementary School on the base has also been ordered to evacuate. Evacuees are being sent to Camp Pendleton's Paige Field House.

I agree. It would be considerate of the OP to ask a mod to delete it.
We are having a Santa Ana wind event. You must not be a local
I’m more or less living right in the middle of the 6 current fires burning and there are several hundred thousand people in this region and we can use all the help we can get.
I was at Disneyland in 2007 when there was a small fire in the foothills of the mountains. Smoke and ash blew right down main street, USA for about 5 minutes. It made a mess of everything and delayed the next parade. That was just a burning car which caught the surronding vegetation on fire. I shudder to think of what these big fires are doing.

“Half Of The US Is In A Drought”
Don’t know where you got the graphic or from when, but I live in SW Idaho and we’ve had a lot of water. No drought here... Maybe 2 inches of rain over the last two weeks alone. Having the grass dry out enough to cut it has been a big problem. All spring it has been that way pretty much.
If you were by that comment simply parroting what you believe Nevada firefighters are saying, then you should say so plainly and apologize for your thoughtless writing.
Otherwise, if those are indeed your personal sentiments, then there are plenty of people on FR right now who await either your abject apology or your permanent departure from FR.
That was disgusting. Of course firefighters get paid. And they even get three meals (sometimes). Do doctors dance a jig every time there’s a car wreck, or someone has a heart attack?
Yes, firefighters get paid. But they also die, just trying to save a few houses. That kind of cynicism is the reason that many people turn against conservatives. Out of all the ways to see this story, you see it as a government spending story.
SO do you suggest they should do it for free, should they just let Cali burn? Or do you suggest it would be cheaper for Cali to maintain a giant firefighting capability instead of turning to surrounding areas to contract work at peak demand?
Weird
Thanks a lot KG9. I was a Chilao Hotshot many many years ago and I saw how you Nevada firefighters DID NOT fight fire.
So good luck with that truck, you GOUL.
Idiot!
So what will happen, if the drought goes on and on followed by a very heavy rain for days or weeks?
+1
!
Here in North County, another fire (or maybe two) just came up near UC San Marcos. It’s over 5 miles (as the crow flies) from the Poinsettia fire.
Is someone setting these fires?
Stay safe.
Usually a cruel and unwarranted wish is visited upon the one that utters it. I don't wish pain and suffering upon innocents just to get a few idiots.
It’s true.
Funny how that “misinfo”graphic fails to show land areas at average or above rainfall. Agenda driven science.
Dawn lives in Ramona. Did you hear if the fire is moving that way at all?
