Several knowledgeable people I know have said that it might have been better for Sam not to be drafted and then become an undrafted free agent. He might then be better able to sign with a team where the competition is as tough.

Spot on. STL was the worst place for him to go as their DL is the best in the league and their DL rotation is also one of the best.

Those saying that the Rams were “forced” to draft Sam are just talking ignorant nonsense.

One poster talked about how the other team is going to throw in his direction. He’s a DE, not a DB

Again, people that don’t know what they’re talking about are just making fools of themselves.

They remind me of the anti-gun crowd talking about “Automatic machine guns with large clips” being pushed by the NRA to children.

Stop with the hysterics already.

Being drafted, especially late in the 7th round means that the odds of making the 53 man roster are slim, especially on a team where the position you play is loaded and deep like the Rams.

I doubt the Rams will carry 9 DE’s on their roster. He might make the Practice Squad, but that’s about it.

He will see very little, if any playing time.
