From time to time the Democrats push the idea that DC should be a state. Just the 63 square miles of the district would be ridiculous--of course it is all about adding some guaranteed Democrat seats in the Senate and House. But maybe if they added the suburban areas in Virginia and Maryland it might make it possible to salvage the rest of Virginia.

Maryland is beyond hope.

The influx of Yankees into Virginia in 1861, 1862, 1863, 1864, and 1865 may have been less harmful than the current invasion.

That would be the only way to change the descent of Virginia into just another liberal state. I'm not too sure I can stay here for much longer; Alabama (my home state) beckons...and I speak the language.
