As two state troopers struggled to arrest his father, a 19-year-old man armed himself with an assault rifle and shot them seven times, killing them outside his home in a remote Alaska village, authorities said in charges filed Saturday.

So you're saying the kid was justified in shooting them?

So, you're taking the official version at face value?

We don't know what happened out there.

not a big fan of a lot of cops...some can be the tools of tyranny.

I don’t think most fit into that category and they do serve a necessary role in any society. Most, I believe, take the, ‘To
Serve and Protect’ motto to heart and like people in all walks of life there are good and bad.

someone else posted that they recoil from your calling them pigs, as do I.

there are cops that are pigs as there are dirt bag criminals, who fit that category.

you are correct in saying we must retain our constitutional rights.

Actually I was just trying to relate to people out there that think cops are no different than a NAZI occupation force. I’ve had MANY encounters with them, and they all ended well. They seem to only get nasty if you start talking back to them for no reason.

"PIGS, which stand for 'Police In Gang Situations'."

Not an acronym I would use.

On the other hand, given the situation, I don't see premeditation here.

All this for brandishing a gun. The DWLS charge is just to hold on to him. The troopers were out there to investigate a report of the father brandishing a gun.

.....reported by the local Village Public Safety Officer at whom gun was brandished!

Not in this case, though it may have appeared to him that his father was in mortal danger; I wasn't there. But the time is approaching when we may be forced to decide to die on our feet or live on our knees.

I pray that we are never forced to that point, but the answer to that prayer may well be "no".

Probably not here. But I don’t care if it’s pre-meditated, this guy deserves TO FRY if convicted, even though he lucked out, having the DEMOCRATS clear out the Death Penalty for him.

my dad was NYPD from 1946 to 1968. I knew LOTS of cops personally including an uncle. Some were good honest cops...some were not.

I have never had any unpleasant encounters with cops who have pulled me over. I don’t get nasty, and neither do they...I suppose if I had encountered a nasty one I might have a negative reaction.

Do your relatives get boozed up and threaten the neighbors with a gun?

Well, I've been told I have distant cousins in Ireland, maybe < /sarc >... And I've known of individuals making unfounded charges against folks they just didn't like (SWATTING, I think they call it). As someone else said, can we believe the official story?

Even police have the RIGHT to come home to their families after their shift. That should be OBVIOUS.

Agreed, that is, UNTIL the visits are to confiscate our arms or arrest us for what we say or think. Then all bets are off.

Agree - you will get to fight these people in court. When they pull you over, you need to appreciate that they are likely more scared than you are (and with good cause). Be polite, state your case, and then, if necessary, fight it in the courts.

The Village Public Safety Officer Program began in the late 1970’s as a means of providing rural Alaskan communities with needed public safety services at the local level.

So they are basically government agents in each town, to insure the locals don’t misbehave. Indian agents.

In 1793 the Second Trade and Intercourse Act authorized the President of the United States to “appoint such persons, from time to time, as temporary agents to reside among the Indians,” and guide them into forced acculturation of white American society by changing their agricultural practices and domestic activities.

Though this latter part is no longer officially included in what they do.

So, in this case, the village PSO decided to hassle the old man about not having a license in rural Alaska, and the old man told him to go to hell, at rifle point. So he calls in the police.

I didn’t go there. You have a point. If they get your arms, it will be PURE HELL to get them back. You may win in the end, but it won’t be pretty. As to what we think, agree there too, although most FReepers STILL send their kids to public schools, where they can get blacklisted, suspended, or expelled, for stating what they think. So there is some hypocrisy there.

Rules of war? Do you let the person who has a gun who would kill you in war turn around and bring his weapon to bear, or do you just shoot him?

If you decide to shoot it out with the police, then you have declared war on them. Are you going to let them face you and bring their weapons to effective use? The certainly don't let YOU bring your weapon to bear on them. If you even begin to point a gun at the police, they kill you.

This is not a question of shooting them in the back at all. If he decides to war with the police, he's going to shoot to kill and show no mercy. He came out alive, they didn't. That is the goal of war. Patton: "It's not about dying for your country (or cause), it's about making the other poor bastard dies for his."

The real question here is one of values. Why was the father deliberately breaking the law? Why did the father point a gun at an enforcement officer at all? Why would the son even THINK of grabbing a weapon and shoot law enforcement officers? If he believed (belief system) it was okay to do so, the only goal is to make sure they are dead and he is alive - which he did.

Other questions: Why didn't the LEOs know whether the other individual was even present before trying to subdue the father? Do others in the community believe it is okay to shoot LEOs? Why are two policemen traveling 135 miles to arrest a man for driving in the God-forsaken wilderness without a license? If he doesn't run over anyone or anything out there where no one but his own people live, who cares? What is this about this community posting things publicly about removing whites from the land? If so, they are enemy combatants. I can think about about 10 more valid questions, but...that's enough. A lot more is there to this story than what is being told.

He should be tried, and if convicted, hanged publicly. Anything else is enabling more of the same.

In California they let illegal mexicans drive without licenses. but if they are DUI`s then they take the car away and the can ride a bike.

True story.
I was eyewitness to ICE/local raids and they picked up all the citizens but let the illegals drive home. YUPO -

It`s a NAZI regime there to get illegals to vote n they need their cars to drive to the non-ID voting place to vote for o bummer. yup

So that justifies the shooting of two police officers?

Of course not. Difference is, he's going to jail for a very long time, maybe the rest of his life.

Meanwhile, police can kill with impunity. Cops can shooting someone in the back and get two years in jail, or kill someone begging for his life and get off scot-free. Those are the worse examples too, as most of the time it's just an internal investigation, a paid vacation, and then nothing.

What do you think justifies a cop killing a civilian?

I’m pretty sure if the two cops shot this guy in the back, they could say he took an “aggressive stance” and that they “felt threatened”, and walk away free.

That’s the key difference: why do cops get away with what regular people do not?
