I always wondered why anyone in LA would root for the Clippers over the Lakers, anyway?

Why does LA need two basketball teams, especially when they play in the same arena?

It’s not like baseball and football where they two teams are in different leagues/conferences.

The Dodgers and the Giants used to both play in NYC in the National League. The NY Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets play in the Eastern conference of the NBA. What sense would it be for one of the LA teams to play in the Eastern Conference? And if a city can support two teams, who cares? NY Giants and NY Jets in football.
