Sterling bought the team for 12M and will sell it for 500M

He never used the “N” word in those recordings, as far as I know.

This is a private matter between “consenting adults” as the left likes to say.

And it’s also illegal to record a telephone conversation without the other party’s knowledge, which hasn’t been made clear if it was or wasn’t.

Too bad our government doesn’t mete out punishment as quickly and as harshly as the NBA does to bigots like Biden and Reid.

Sterling has a past of saying and doing racist things, but this is thoughtcrime type punishment.

You get in an argument with your g/f about who she is seeing in a private conversation and 48 hours after that private conversation is leaked, you are basically forced to sell your business?

And the NBA commish feigning ignorance regarding Sterling’s past behavior was icing on the cake.

TMZ, which released the first, nine-minute audio, and other sources are reporting that Sterling knew he was being recorded. Allegedly, the mistress openly recorded much of their conversation, and she has over 100 hours of audio.

Why? Well, I'm more cabbage-looking than I am green.

Other sources are reporting that a third party was also present.

I didn't know anything about Sterling before this incident. He has a part black girl friend/golddigger. He was saying things in a private conversation. He never said he hated black people. He never used any racist slurs. He is being punished for this particular incident (which might have been illegal to record) and not for his previous supposedly bad behavior.

While I support the right of any pro sports league to oust people detrimental to the league's interests, throwing out someone for what they said in a private conversation sets up a nasty precedent. Will other major figures in the league be similarly punished? How about part Nets owner Jay-Z wearing a racist medallion to a Nets game? And what difference does it make where he wore it? Nobody did anything to Jay-Z. If I was Sterling, I might demand they force Jay-Z to sell his interest in the Nets. Does anyone believe black NBA figures will similarly punished? I doubt it.
