That wouldn’t work. The league would come in and take over, make the payments, etc., and his $900 million property would become worthless. That would give them an excuse to just take it.

The players are still there. The NBA probably owns the name of the team and its logos. All they have to do is reconstitute it and sell it to someone new. Your proposal would keep Sterling from getting any money for the team but would otherwise do nothing.
