One summer day last July, a six-year-old boy was walking across a dune when he disappeared, falling into a deep, narrow hole in the sand. This and two other holes that have since appeared at Indiana's Mount Baldy are unlike anything scientists have seen beforeit could be an entirely new geological phenomenon.
After being buried for three horrifying hours in the eleven-foot-deep hole, the boy was fortunately rescued. But the incident left an impression on geologist Erin Argyilan, who happened to be doing research at Mount Baldy that day and heard his parents' terrified screams. "I couldn't help in the moment," she told the Chicago Tribune, "So now I have to do what I can to learn why this is happening."

An old joke my daddy told me:
A guy was walking through a graveyard at night and fell into a freshly dug grave. He tried and tried but couldn’t get a good enough grip to pull himself out. So, he huddled up in the corner and tried to stay warm
A few hours later a drunk stumbled into the same grave. He kept jumping up and trying to grab hold of the edge to pull himself out. He guy huddled in the corner said “There ain’t no use trying, you can’t get.....by God he did, didnt’ he!”

An analogous situation exists in the Sahara Desert. People walking on the sand simply disappear. This has been known for centuries.

Gotta be fracking. Or GMO’s. Or global warming. One of these three causes everything else, so why should this be an exception.

This is just TOO similar to the movie ‘Invaders from Mars’ Don’t remember much of the remake, but the original gave me nightmares for years....as well as a disdain for beach living. Of those who have disappeared into the hole, how many are now sporting the alien devices on the backs of their neck?
