People reported yelling for help from the woods 5 miles west of Vilonia...
This has been forecast for a while. Do most have a reinforced area for storm shelter, in their homes or in public buildings to which they could have gone?
I can’t imagine facing a high probability of this sort of thing with every Spring that comes, without some means of protecting myself, my family and my animals.
Some have storm shelters...many don’t. It looks like many were caught off guard while driving. A vehicle is the last place you want to be...reports are that many cars/semis were swept off of the road.
I recall one of the few really bad ones that have hit in NC, in the eastern part of the state, a woman got in her bathtub for shelter, her house was leveled, according to her she “rode” the tub out into the woods and landed in a tree.
If you don’t have a shelter...the best place to go is the bathroom. In a violent tornado such as this one...you really need to be below ground.
The plumbing and hard tile surfaces are presumed to be more sturdy but I don’t really know if that applies any longer with fiberglass tub enclosures and PVC plumbing. Center of the house on the ground floor, no exposure to an exterior wall with no windows is what I’ve always been told, that is if you don’t have a basement.
That is correct...they use to say that the pipes in the walls helped support the room, but like you said lighter material used now is useless in supporting the structure.
I want to alert all my friends in the tornado belt. This year will kill thousand. The Earth is cooling from natural forces. Duck and cover.
Tishimingo? Lots of family around there

Holy cr*p.
That lady was in good spirits about having survived I guess, she was older and very funny. “I was a-rockin’ and a-rollin’,” she was reported to have said afterwards.
Praying for all being impacted by this whole severe weather outbreak and it is not ending tonight sadly....
