I’m not taking issue with women not being in the infantry. I have a problem with the (reoccuring) argument that the reason sexual assault exists in the military is because there are women around and apparently men just can’t stop themselves. I don’t know where it originated but it’s insulting at best. It seems to be snuck into pretty much every single article about this subject no matter how well-written the paper might be otherwise.
Rape is without a doubt a crime, no matter where you are, but sexual assault and harassment can be something else.
Few women ever see men really living as and being men, it can be jarring to have to mix the world’s most testosterone loaded work, with cute young girls.
Part of the reason is the living and working conditions, which include a lot of camping, the age of everyone involved, (think of months in a small submarine full of teens and twenty somethings), the inability of modern females to inspire respect from males since they are so loose and easy, the constant complaining of modern females about even normal male behavior and government specialists seeking those complaints, after years of the females having been trained to see everything as harassment, but reason number one, is one that no one will mention, but that most veterans will know.
