Israel is in a unique position. They are surrounded by millions of muslims who want to kill them off and take their land. If we were in such a situation, hell yeah, arm women and old men.
Also, no one can name another country that will send women into front line action. See any Russian women in Ukraine?
My big beef with all this is that is bad enough that young men have to endure the horrors of the battlefield, but then have to live with it for the rest of their lives. Why subject women to all that?

Still, we don’t need women in combat. I read an article written by a female US Marine (we used to call them WM’s) who spent a year in the Middle East doing combat patrols. She wasn’t wounded, but she is now on permanent disability due to the damage done by carrying heavy loads every day. She also made it sound like she was quite the jock when she got out of TBS. Her point was that female bodies aren’t designed for that stress and strain.
