Well Jack, the crude may dry up in a millenium or two, but what is going to send the Saudis' slaves (oops, guest workers) eventually a-packing is the growth of the Saudi population. Thanks to polygamy and instant divorce and remarriage it is no trick at all to meet Saudis with upwards of 50 children!
The population has quintupled since the 1950's and because of the intense and once-lavish welfare benefits offered Saudi nationals (as opposed to the '0' benefits offered to the "guest workers who are NEVER offered citizenship) the Saudis are actually hurting for ready money to keep their country going. Please, don't laugh! Eventually, the Saudis themselves are going to have to really ....GASP! .... work. Yes! Pick up their own garbage, dry-clean their own clothes, flip their own burgers, fry their own chicken. As of right now, the worthy oriental gentlemen spend their days flitting from fast-food emporium to mosque to various wives' houses and back again, not forgetting to stop by the neighborhood welfare and office to divorce one or two cousins, marry another and her sister, pick up some cash, a sack of rice, and maybe a new white Toyota pick-up truck.
This worked kind of OK when there were 4-5 million worthy oriental gentlemen. In those balmy days, if a Saudi national coughed on the street, he might well wake up in a hospital in Vienna. No more, Achmed baby! Now that there are 35 million of'em and growing, it's not so hot. BTW, don't expect the royals, princes, sheiks, tribal leaders, etc. to actually fork over any of their dough.
